WIP Wednesday (September ‘24)
It's that time of the month where I write about my WIPs again! Although this is a very short instalment as I'm actually going on holiday for most of September into the beginning of October, plus my wrist is still being a bit funny, so my upcoming projects are nothing ambitious. Most of it is either a) achievable in the first week I'm still here or b) portable during my travels. So no great works from me this month!
Knitting
As mentioned, my wrist is not 100% but I have tentatively resumed some projects which I had abandoned a while ago, so a lot of the hard work has already been done; it may just be the case I have to put them down yet again. Eek!
Paintbox Yarn Essential Cable Socks
I started this pair of socks from a Paintbox Yarn free pattern and the corresponding pattern a while ago - although it's not my first pair of socks, it's my first time doing cabling, which I absolutely love now. Sadly, I suffered from the classic 'second sock' issue where I gave up just short of finishing the first sock and didn't have the motivation to finish the second one. Now I have the motivation, I forgot how much I enjoy knitting socks/double pointed needles (as fiddly as it is). I’ve also discovered a love for knitting cables, since this has been my first time! So, I anticipate this second sock shooting straight off my needles.
Wisteria Tee
I also finished this t-shirt a while ago, knitted in a really cool mixed/reversible colourway I saw on Instagram (funnily enough also using Paintbox Yarn) but I realised the sleeves were too short so they looked a bit funny, so I had been meaning to go back in and extend them. (I had kind of cocked it up from the beginning by buying the wrong yarn weight and improvising most of it, so it’s impressive it looks as decent as it does.) The trouble with fixing this project is that it's just way more fun to start new projects… but I figured I do want to actually wear this t-shirt for my efforts, so it's time to start cutting back into it.
