Finished Friday (January ‘25)

Yes, this is a week late because I was in Austria and did not have all my pieces together to photograph for this. Will you forgive me?

Lateness aside, I have managed to get a few things done which I’m pretty happy about. The WIP list grows thinner by the day!

Knitting

Vesterby Crea Cable Jumper

This was a really fun knit to work on – the cable pattern is very fun. I did have a slight issue with the fit; before blocking, the sleeves were a little short (but if I made them longer, the cable repeat pattern would look a bit strange) and the slightly large shoulders and collar looked like Elizabethan leg-of-mutton sleeves and a ruff. A vibe? I don’t know. After blocking, however, the sleeves relaxed and now fit – only the collar looks a little wide now (I did knit it undersize as it looked ridiculously long in the pattern, and I stand by this decision). Overall though, this one was a romp of a knit.

No Frills Jumper

Famously, I dislike raglan. But this jumper may have converted me! I didn’t make any mistakes with the increases this time, and the effect of the ombré yarn looks so cute. I had a little trouble colour matching the sleeves when it came to rejoining the yarn to the live sleeve stitches, but I had to give myself some grace that it wouldn’t be perfect, and as long as it looked somewhat blended in, it was fine. My only regret is adding the sleeve decreases, as I had this problem with the Stockholm jumper; I just don’t really like close-fitting sleeves. I should’ve known but oh, well. I haven’t made a soft, drapey jumper like this before so it’s a very nice addition to my wardrobe.

Printmaking

Cheapside Hoard Patchwork Print

I’m REALLY happy to have gotten this one finished! Making one print is one thing, but making eighteen prints on fabric, sewing them together and suspending them just threw up so many challenges that I hadn’t considered. But now it’s done, I am super happy with how the prints came out. Even the little animation I made was 100% worth the pain of setting up. I’m not sure if I’d do a project like this any time soon but I’m glad I did it.

(re the terrible photo – yes you’re right, I haven’t finished attaching the dowel yet and yes, I will post better photos once it’s properly done…)
