WIP Wednesday (March ‘25)

It’s projects upon projects upon projects for me… At this point I probably am casting on more than I can chew but I’m sure it’ll be fine…

I will be travelling/on holiday at the end of the month so I have meticulously planned everything so I won’t be undertaking any heavy/complicated projects that don’t travel well.

Knitting

Everyday Socks

Shhh – I’m knitting a pair of socks for my mum, I hope in time for Mother’s Day… I have made these socks in this yarn before, so it should be quite straightforward if I just power through. The only slight trouble is that I didn’t make a gauge test and am just going off the fact that the pair I made last time were quite small/shrunk in the wash so I’m sizing up and hoping for the best…

Mayfield Mitts

My first proper, concerted effort into fair isle – wish me luck! I have tried it before but I knew far less about knitting than I do now, so I hope with a bit more experience, I can give it a good shot.

My hands get really cold when I work at home so I thought a pair of mitts would do me nicely, and I really fell in love with this pattern. However, gauge testing for these bad boys has been a bit of a pain; after trying every increment between 2–3mm double pointed needles, I found that ultimately the intended 2.25mm needle size produces a smaller gauge, BUT since my hands are small and the mitt size is medium, mathematically it actually works out well. HOWEVER, my forearms get kind of wide, so I think I’ll knit the cuff stretchy and in 2.5mm. Ahh!

Mozart Jumper

I had a moment of total weakness as I saw this pattern was on sale when it was released, and I thought it would look so beautiful in purple so of course I bought it and a few skeins of Malabrigo Rios in Syrah Grapes to match…

This will be my travel project for when I am out and about (Barcelona and Athens this time!); it’s just my only non-colourwork project lined up and I only hope that the stitch pattern won’t be too complex for being on the road.
