August ’25 Update

I’m later than I’d like to be on this but as promised, I am still going to update my blog at least monthly by conflating all my WIPs and finished projects. Knitting takes a while! But here’s August’s update.

Finished

Luna Tee

This was a love-hate relationship, I have to say. I love the final product: it fits me so well and it looks so beautiful – but for how simple the construction was and how clearly the pattern is actually written, I struggled a lot in some places. I had to frog some sections multiple times just due to repeatedly misreading the pattern instructions on numbers of repeats per increase. Also, the 2 x 2 rib invisible cast-on was such a pain and I had to cast on, frog and repeat multiple times because at first I couldn’t get the neck over my head, then on bigger needles, I misread the pattern and couldn’t retrieve it… this meant that at the end, when I tried on the tee and realised the neck was way too saggy/big, it caused me great pain but I had to cut it off. Despite my attempts to reknit/graft a new neck on, I eventually just bound it off so it has a crew neck now.

Despite this, and almost contradictorily, at the end, I had an almost manic moment of madness believing that I was so in love with this tee that I had to make another one, with even shorter capped sleeves and a tall neck, in bold red. I’m holding fire on this one though because I, famously, have so many other WIPs to get on with!!! If I find I really do love the tee and wear it all the time, then maybe I will make another. Time will tell.

WIPs

I’m currently working on a historical knitwear reconstruction project which I hope will constitute some more posts on this blog – I’m just having trouble sourcing materials for it so unsure if it will actually be a realistic project.

I’m also still working on knitting the Sweet Lavender Socks, Sophie Hood and Off-Grid Sweater. Yes, I know.

I also ordered materials to make my Christmas presents (very prepared, I know!) so those are in the pipeline – I’m knitting a scarf and a pair of socks, and sewing a pouch.
