Believe it or not, I have managed to finish some projects lately! I went on the most amazing trip to Scotland and while I was primarily there for the nature and hiking (which was truly spectacular), I really should’ve investigated the wool/yarn scene more… Next time! I saw a few fun things though:

Knitting
Mozart Sweater
She’s finished! Isn’t she beautiful? The stitch pattern was so fun though the Malabrigo Rios yarn was… a little challenging. As you may be able to see, I had a quite radical difference in dye lots – which I didn’t realise beforehand – and as I worked the dye rubbed off on my hands a little. But it’s still such a nice colour.
You can also see how much blocking changed the final piece… I was worried by how ‘knobbly’ and tight the piece looked when I finished it but it completely relaxed after wet blocking. It’s much more loose and drapey now, just as I wanted. This is probably the most radical change I’ve seen from blocking so I’m glad that it’s actually worth doing!
Now I just have to wait for the weather to wear this thing…

Crochet
Chicken Coasters
I did not tell you about this project as it was a fairly impulsive one. I had this single ball of We Are Knitters hand-painted sprinkle Pima cotton, which I bought way back when I was first getting into knitting and at the time I had no idea that a) I would need more than one ball of yarn for a meaningful project and b) I wouldn’t end up liking cotton that much. So this poor ball of yarn sat around uselessly – half became a scarf before being frogged – and eventually, I saw this Chicken Coasters pattern which I really adored and the two just seemed to make sense together.
I am not a crocheter! I do not really love crochet either. But I just thought these chickens were so cute and it would be a great way to use this yarn. They’re pretty messy and not perfect but ultimately they were a quick stashbusting project. They all live on my desk now and they’re fab.
